Day 1 of the Quote Challenge

I've been nominated for the 3 Day Quote Challenge! I want to thank Jessy Alvarado at FaithandBooks.com for nominating me for the 3 Day Quote Challenge. Jessy always has honest and helpful insights into Scriptures as well as Christian book reviews. Be sure to check out her blog page!

Today’s quote for Day 1:

There is a reason the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror. Your future matters more than your past.

                             - Max Lucado, Anxious for Nothing

Why I Chose this Quote:

I've always been the type of person that likes to ruminate over the past, past conversations, past highlights, past lessons learned. I think there is a good precedent in the Old Testament, because the LORD often tells His people to remember His mighty deeds and to remember what they came out of, to make memorials for the miraculous ways He delivered them.

However, I can easily dwell too much on the past and not enjoy the present.

I'm a planner, too, so I'm always looking forward to the future. Unfortunately, I also tend to focus on preventing bad stuff from happening in the future, not necessarily planning how I will accomplish something step-by-step into the future.

I have this quote taped to the wall in my office area to remind me not to fear the future but not to live in the past, either.

Do you have any tips on how you do this? I would love to know how to focus my mind more on the present and working for specific goals in the future. Thanks!
